For years, Mr. Carman has helped those in the Commonwealth of Kentucky when they have been suspected of wrongdoing by the government. He is admitted to practice in all state courts in Kentucky, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Dan Carman is a member of various local and national Bar Associations and the Central Kentucky American Inn of Court. Mr. Carman has previously been named in the Top 100 Trial Lawyers and Top 40 Under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers.

Previously, Mr. Carman served as a law clerk for the Honorable Jennifer B. Coffman, United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, including during her term as Chief Judge in the Eastern District. Before working for a federal judge, he served as a judge advocate in the United States Marine Corps. As a Captain, he was a criminal defense attorney, prosecutor, and legal assistance attorney. During his tenure in the Marine Corps, Mr. Carman also served within an infantry battalion — 1ST Battalion, 2D Marines — with whom he deployed to the Anbar and Ninevah Provinces of Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. He considers the opportunity to lead Marines and sailors a great privilege of his life.

Mr. Carman graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2005. He was a member of the Kentucky Law Journal, served as President of the College of Law’s Chapter of Federalist Society, achieved the distinction of “Best Brief” in his writing club, and worked at a local law firm. He graduated from Davidson College in 2001 with a major in Political Science, and served as Captain of the College’s Division I wrestling team and Vice-President of the Kappa Alpha Order. In years past, Mr. Carman has held various jobs, such as ranch hand, sea kayak guide, and English teacher in Budapest, Hungary.

A native of Lexington, Mr. Carman graduated from Henry Clay High School. He is a Deacon in Calvary Baptist Church and a member of the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky. Mr. Carman also sits on the board of Mission Lexington, a free medical and dental clinic serving those who are uninsured in Fayette County.

He is a student of Spanish and enjoys spending time with his wife and sons, making music, fishing, and following University of Kentucky sports.
